Música do The Smiths é remédio contra tristeza
Uma música do The Smiths, uma das bandas de pop britânicas mais influentes dos anos 80, é a melhor música para combater a tristeza. A conclusão é de uma pesquisa divulgada hoje pela BBC. A música em questão é I Know It's Over e foi escolhida como o grande antídoto contra a depressão por milhares de pessoas que participaram da pesquisa, que faz parte de uma campanha da emissora para estudar os vínculos entre a música e a saúde mental. "A música é como braços gigantes que saem dos alto-falantes para me abraçar", disse um dos participantes da pesquisa, segundo a rádio britânica.
Composta pelo líder do grupo, Steven Morrissey, a música é um triste discurso existencial e faz parte do disco The Queen Is Dead (1986), considerado por muitos críticos o melhor álbum da banda. I Know It's Over ocupa o primeiro lugar de uma lista de vinte "músicas para a melancolia" que, segundo os entrevistados na pesquisa, "salvaram" suas vidas. Na lista também aparecem canções - umas alegres e outras mais tristes - como Everybody Hurts, do REM; Pictures of You, do The Cure; Confortably Numb, do Pink Floyd e Good Day Sunshine, dos Beatles. A pesquisa demonstra que "as músicas não devem ser lentas ou tristes para que as pessoas se apóiem nelas. Geralmente, uma canção alegre pode fazer você dançar e fazê-lo se sentir melhor", disse o diretor da BBC, John Sugar.
